American Kennel Club Golden Retriever Pet Purchase Agreement

16 Paws Goldens agrees to sell the Puppy described as: Puppy Breed: Purebred Golden Retriever, Registered by: American Kennel Club.

Limited Registration

This Puppy is being sold as a Pet only. If BUYER wishes to change Puppy limited registration to AKC full breeding rights, please contact 16 Paws Goldens for consideration and additional breeding fees.

Payment

Holding Agreement: A $500 deposit is required to hold your Puppy.  The seller assigns the buyer the guarantee that the Puppy will not be sold to any party other than the buyer as long as the buyer adheres to Picking Up Your Puppy Guideline.  The $500 non refundable deposit will be applied to the purchase price of the Puppy when the buyer assumes physical possession of the assigned Puppy.  Deposit payment will be made through Zelle, certified check or cash.  The remainder of Puppy price must be paid IN CASH before the puppies are released to their new home.  Puppy may be picked up/shipped at 8 weeks of age only after full payment has been received.  This part of the contract is void if other arrangements are made prior.
*In case of a waitlist deposit made prior to birth of litter, deposit will be returned to buyer if dam does not have any puppies of the desired gender available or alternatively can be transferred to another litter, if available. We do not make any guarantees to size, color or general appearance of puppies and no refunds will be given for these reasons.

Health

16 Paws Goldens guarantees this Puppy will be in good health for 3 days after BUYER takes possession of this Puppy. Buyer agrees to have Puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 3 days of purchase. Should Buyer fail to have this Puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian within the 3-day timeframe, this health guarantee is void. This part of the guarantee expires 3 days after Buyer takes possession of the Puppy.

16 Paws Goldens is NOT responsible for ANY veterinary bills or any costs for the care of Puppy after the dog has been purchased. Breeder does not cover any kind of parasites brought on from stress, leaving our home and into a new environment. If Puppy is to be found in an untreatable health condition, buyer is to get a written statement from a licensed veterinarian. Buyer will then have 2 options:

  1. Keep Puppy assuming all costs for its care.
  2. Return Puppy and pick a Puppy out of the next available litter, of equal or lesser value only upon 16 Paws Goldens receiving a licensed veterinarian’s written report regarding proof of the health of Puppy within the time period of 3 days from the date the Buyer receives Puppy in their possession.

Health Guarantee:

Clause 1 - Lifetime Genetic Health Guarantee: Our guarantee covers all genetic diseases that are common in Golden Retrievers.  They include PRA-1, PRA-2, ICH, MD, NCL, and PRA-PRCD disease.  To qualify for our health guarantee a certified veterinarian must confirm any “affected” through means of a blood or saliva DNA sample listed above.  If dog is confirmed to be affected by any of the diseases listed above, a written veterinarian report must be submitted to the seller and signed by a licensed veterinarian. Seller MUST be notified of the problem within 24 hours of the licensed veterinarian’s determination. Buyer will have 2 remedial options: 1.) Half the purchase price less deposit will be returned 2.) Return Puppy for a Puppy of equal or lesser value when Puppy becomes available.

Clause 2: At this time, we do not make guarantees for hips, elbows, heart, or eyes but alternatively test all our breeding pairs prior to having puppies so that buyers are able to confirm that no hereditary health conditions will be passed to offspring.

  • Because such a high percentage of all canine hip and elbow dysplasia are related to poor nutrition and environmental stress or injury to the joints, we recommend a high quality food designed specifically for large breed puppies, limited calcium intake and limited rough play and rigorous exercise during the first year of life while joints are more susceptible to damage.  Diet plays a very strong role in eye and heart health as well.  With a poor diet, both heart failure and nutritional cataracts can occur which is no way genetically passed.  Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Clause 3: Vaccinations, de-worming, and heart guard are not covered under this guarantee. Other certain disorders that may be caused by environmental factors, such as, allergies, thyroid dysfunction, ear mite, mange, and other autoimmune disorders that are not congenital are not covered in this guarantee.

Clause 4: This guarantee does not include hip, elbow, and other bone/tendon/ligament/cartilage injuries, hernias/ruptures, hypoglycemia, UTI, coccidiosis or giardia, (which can happen in puppies that are stressed from moving to new homes).

Clause 5: All veterinarian charges, incurred by the purchaser, are the sole responsibility of the purchaser and will under no circumstances be paid by the seller, (except under clause 1) including spay or neuter charges. The seller guarantees a healthy companion pet, but does not guarantee breeding or show quality, adult size, color, coat type, ear set, or temperament.

All guarantees shall become null and void if the Puppy is sold, given away, or transferred to another person.

Conditions of sale: Buyers’ Responsibilities

  • Puppy to veterinarian of choice within the first 72 hours of purchase, at buyer’s expense, for health guarantee to be valid.
  • Buyer agrees to maintain the Puppy’s health in good condition by:
    • Providing vet exams, and any other usual procedures necessary to assure good health.
    • For the first year reasonable precautions shall be taken by Buyer to minimize injury to the Puppy. No treadmilling, jogging, standing on back legs or excessive ball chasing or retrieving should be done with this puppy/dog prior to one year. No hard exercise, rough playing, of extensive running with adults, children or other animals should be allowed. Restrict the puppy’s exercise to sensible activities (brief short walks) and discourage jumping activities.
    • Owner understands that extended and exhaustive playing with older dogs, or forced exercise, can actually cause joint, tendon, cartilage and bone problems because of soft tissue development, until the age of two years.
  • Buyer agrees to provide a safe, secure, and suitable environment for this Puppy.
  • Buyer is responsible for training your Puppy. 16 Paws Goldens is not responsible for any bad behavior Puppy might have. We socialize and train all the puppies that leave here, but it is very important to seek a trainer or help on how to properly train your new furry friend.
  • For the health of a female Puppy, it is recommended to not spay until after the 2nd heat cycle.
  • For the health of a male Puppy, it is recommended to not neuter until after 24 months of age
  • If at any time circumstances are such that Buyer cannot keep the puppy, Seller maintains “Right of First Refusal” to take possession of the puppy and its properly signed registration papers, with no monies refunded. However, any monies recovered from the re-sale of the puppy MAY be given to Buyer at Seller’s discretion. The term “Right of First Refusal” means: if the Buyer chooses to relinquish ownership of the puppy, the puppy shall automatically return to Seller or Seller’s designee. Under NO circumstances shall the puppy be taken to an animal shelter, humane society, research lab facility, animal broker, pet store, etc.

Conditions of sale: Seller’s Responsibilities
